Three local nonprofits have received $33,000 in NCCF grants for 2022, including one first-time grantee that provides home visits to support pregnant women and mothers with young children. Ready Kids, a longtime Charlottesville-based nonprofit, is expanding into Nelson County to assist mothers and help prepare their children for school.
Another grant recipient, the Central Virginia Farm Workers Initiative, received funds for ongoing efforts to advocate for better health and digital literacy for migrant farm workers in Nelson County.
The Bridge Ministry also received a grant to support vocational training, education classes, and counseling, as part of a residential rehabilitation program for men addicted to alcohol or drugs.
The deadline for NCCF’s summer round of grant applications is June 30, 2022.
